Student Loans:
The House passed a bill that would ensure that student loans
remain available despite the recent drop in qualified lenders.
It would increase the total amount of federally backed loans
that students can borrow and would boost the government's role

Student Loans:
The House passed legilation intended to ensure that students can get federally
backed loans for school this fall as lenders continued to struggle with losses
from defaulted loans. In the Senate, Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-MA) has introduced a similar bill,
which is expected to go through that chamber quickly. (H.R.5715)

Student Loans:
A House panel is marking up a bill that would increase the annual
loan limits on federal college loans by $2,000, enabling dependent
undergraduates to borrow a total of $31,000 in federal college loans, up
from $23,000. The cap for independent students would increase from $46,000
$57,000. (S.2815)
