YOUR FIRST DAY AT MAC

The first day here at MAC may be quite hectic in a wonderful way. For this reason, we are giving you this sheet to help you know where to go and what you should be doing.

Immediately upon arrival, you will be handed a few brief instruction pages. Please find a seat for a few minutes to read these over, and then follow the simple instructions.

  • Obtain an attendance sheet, with instructions, from the front office. If you have this already, go to the next step.

  • If you have not already received your textbooks, proceed directly to the main hallway and see a MAC office staff member so that you can receive your books. You will be asked to sign for all books and to write your name on the outside edge of the pages so that we can easily identify any stray books.

  • Please arrive promptly for all scheduled classes. Go to the classroom designated for the class you are taking and sit and wait until your instructor begins class. If it is still quite a bit of time before the first class time of the day, feel free to hang out in the first floor Student Lounge and eat, drink and be (quietly) merry. Please be aware that there may be a small class taking place in the Lounge and you may need to keep the volume of your merriment at a minimum. You may also relax downstairs at the fabulous MAC-U (MAC Underground), if you prefer.(You have to see it to believe it!)

  • For the first few days there will be signs near each classroom so that you will know where to go. If you have any confusion as to where you should be, please ask any of our employees and s/he will be happy to help you to get to where you need to be. After arriving at the right place, you are to hand your attendance sheet to your instructor. It will be returned to you at the end of class with his or her signature verifying that you were there and what you did that session. Be absolutely certain to sign your instructor's attendance book whenever you go to any class at MAC.

  • Your instructor will announce when it is time for a hiatus. A hiatus is a short 10-minute break one hour into each session. This will be an opportunity for you to have a small snack, walk around and get to know the other students and just relax for a few minutes. Under no circumstances are you to leave the property without permission from the office. Your parents have left you here and expect you to be here. For students, particularly those eighteen years of age and older, please understand that we must verify with your parents that it is OK for you to leave the grounds for any reason.

  • At the conclusion of class your attendance sheet will be returned to you. Please refer to the Attendance Sheet Procedure sheet and follow the directions on it.

  • We here at MAC hope for a super successful summer session and school year for us all. With cooperation and the following of a few simple rules, we can rest assured that this is exactly how it will be. Enjoy your time here at MAC, and please let us know if there is anything you need or any questions that you need answers to ASAP. We are all always happy and willing to assist you with any needs and concerns that you may have.
